About
The Iowa Waste Reduction Center began in January 1988 as a result of the 1987 Groundwater Protection Act. As a program of Business and Community Services within the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa, the IWRC's primary focus is providing free, non-regulatory environmental assistance to Iowa's small businesses. Since then, thousands of businesses have benefitted from the IWRC services.
The IWRC has a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals with expertise in the areas of pollution prevention, regulatory compliance, painter training, and technology development. IWRC staff industrial and consulting experience yields practical, reliable, and high quality services. Training and professional certifications in areas such as health and safety, energy conservation, corrosion prevention, and GIS expand IWRC services to even a more comprehensive level.
The IWRC provides UNI students the opportunity to gain occupational and educational experience. This team is composed of highly skilled students from a variety of majors and backgrounds. The students' work constitutes an important function for the IWRC operation.
